Teams Android management is not just moving portals. It is changing where admins can reliably answer basic questions about devices.

Microsoft says Android-based Teams device management, provisioning, and update workflows are moving from Teams admin center into the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal, which becomes the primary destination as the transition completes. The portal also surfaces device health, inventory, and analytics. That means the daily question is no longer only "is this device enrolled?" It is "can the team that supports it see its state, update ring, and failure mode in one place?"

The operational consequence is simple: if your support process still starts in TAC, you can end up with split visibility during the transition. A room may be healthy in one console and still be managed elsewhere for updates or provisioning. When that happens, troubleshooting slows down because the operator has to infer which control plane is authoritative.

The decision rule I would use is to treat the portal as the working system of record for Android Teams devices, then verify three things before you rely on it: enrollment, update management, and whatever inventory data your support desk actually uses. If one of those still lives in the old path, document that exception instead of assuming the move is complete.

That is less about portal preference and more about reducing ambiguity for support. When the management path is clear, the device is easier to recover. When it is split, the room inherits the confusion.
